Alright, Let's Shoot This F****r!

Nothing much of substance, but it's been a while and I've got some pictures to share, so I'll try to be more regular.

A month or so ago we took the kids to The Wild Center's free day (because it's totally NOT worth the admission price otherwise).

I know this picture isn't the clearest, but, evidently we picked the day of spring when all turtles become amorous, because any enclosure with more than two of the little creatures in it had loads of turtle sex happening.

Notice the two heads - Connor noticed this first "Dad look, that turtle's walking on the bottom underwater." Me: "That's, ah, two turtles and they're not just walking."

Around the corner there was a smaller enclosure that let me witness things up close:

There were more, but how much turtle-porn does one person really need?

There was also some fishing in the pond:

And Des scaled a rock wall by stepping on an old man's head:

Some Birds And Some Laughs

I need to put more stuff from the photostream up here. One of the rare nice days we had this spring brought some Cedar Waxwings into the yard, to eat the no-good Japanese Beatles that congregate in, and ruin, the apple blossoms. I think these little guys look awesome:

And, on a completely unrelated note, Dennis Leary is still funny. All I'd heard from him lately is "9/11 was an inside job, blah blah blah." But damn did the last part of this interview crack me up.

Here's a picture of a bookshelf I built. I need to build about three more, now, when I have free time, which is never.

$10

That's how much I would wager that this was filmed on Tupper Lake last winter.

Someday, I will post pics/videos of my own again.

Flickrd

IMG_1907.JPG

I've been meaning to keep up with my "post-more-often-even-if-its-inane-bullshit-I-saw-somewhere-else" policy, but I've actually had things other than watching cells fall into tubes&trade to accomplish this week. And the internets have been a big let down.

Anywho, one thing I've been kicking around the idea of doing for the last year or so is putting up videos of me embarrassing myself, guitar in hand, so that I'll be forced to learn complete songs. Yay or nay? and if yay, any requests? Especially for songs not typically thought of as "solo performance pieces?" It's probably something else I'll never get around to doing, but with sufficient encouragement, I can make an ass of myself for the benefit of the three people that read this blog.

Eff You, Meth-Heads

I've got a head-cold/sinus infection right now that feels like someone filled my sinus cavities up with Elmer's glue and it's slowly setting up, making some pressure, destroying my manly speaking voice, and causing me to wake up several times over the course of the night so that I can swish water around in my mouth and hope that my tongue hasn't really dried out and fallen off. Remember the good old days when you could walk into a pharmacy and pick up some Nyquil or those little red pills, both of which were chalk-full of pseudoephedrine, and because of that they actually freaking worked? Not so anymore. Now the only thing Nyquil has going for it is that nice slow burn on the way down that does temporarily relieve the suffering but doesn't do the stuff that it used to. All thanks to the toothless wonders in search of a cheap and (apparently) shitty buzz. Great. I wish I could go sit in a hotspring like these guys.
Here's some Buckethead.

This Could Be Quite Some Debate.

The picture in question from a previous post.

I'm not 100% sure that it's a dog, as James suggested. No not Fran Drescher, the other thing.

What we know:

  • a)It has a fur covered body (Just to be clear, I'm only talking about the one on the left, not Fran Drescher) which means that
  • b)It is a mammal (Again, I'm only talking about the one on the left, not Fran Drescher)
  • c)It's eyes are located on the front of it's head, so it must be a carnivore, omnivore, insectivore, or carrion eater (The one on the left)
  • d)The density of its fur suggests that it evolved in either an extremely Northern or Southern climate and/or spends a lot of time in water (I'm talking about the creature on the left of the picture)
  • e)If tame, is only slightly so as it appears uncomfortable in whatever article of clothing is wrapped around it (In the white "shirt," on the left. Not the one on the right).
  • f)May not be of this earth, or at least "real" (The one with the light brown fur)

What Kind Of Animal Is This?

I mean the one on the left. I think. The one that's not Fran Drescher.
