I think that guy took several valium before shooting the video. He hardly moves his face or anything when he's singing.
I always thought it was sung by a chick too, but then this was the decade full of androgynous performers and glam rock superstars.
I love that movie. I have it on dvd and it's still great. But surprisingly scary for a kids flick. Between the Gmork, that knight that gets mummified by the oracle, Artax dying in the Swamps of Sadness, and then the whole metaphorical symbolism of The Nothing. But still, I get stoked every time that song plays when the movie starts.
